Now, I’m going to be deliberately vague because I don’t to give this blogger any traffic.
This is what happened. I developed a new a interest lately. As a result, I was looking for a blog that I could use as a reference. All my searches returned this one blog. The name of the blog was specific to the actual topic. I went on the blog and to my dismay, I saw post after post which looked like emails from a mailing list. The funniest thing is that the Google Groups mailing list from which he was sponging his information was one that I had recently subscribed to. I actually found a pos, which was me asking a question to the group.
This is what I assume he did. He went into the Blogger configuration and set up the Blog by Email option. And he used the same email address that he used to sign up to the group. So, every time a message is sent to the group it is forwarded to his email address and ends up on his blog.

We have another member of the Get Paid To Blog family: Bloggerwave. How does Bloggerwave differ? Well, not by much, but they are still a great service. You sign up and wait 72 hours until your blog is approved. After this, you log on and log for opportunities. Then you just blog your heart away as you usually do.
Posts must stay up for at least 30 days, they have to be relevant, etc. All in all, it’s a great service. Give Bloggerwave a try.

For WYSIWYG editing nothing is better than Dreamweaver. A lot of people will disagree but I don’t care :). Dreamweaver has served me well for a number of years. Every time I had a web project to do, I made sure to set apart a certain amount for development tools. These included Macromedia (haven’t upgraded since Adobe bought them) Dreamweaver, Flash and a very old version of Photoshop 7.0 that still does tons more than I need.
But what does one do when you’re away from home and don’t have your normal tools? Or when you’re just dead broke? We go open source and freeware, that’s what we do. For HTML editing, I haven’t found another free tool that rises to the level that Nvu has risen to. They haven’t released a new version since 2005, but it’s still great at what it does.
For image editing, people swear by GIMP, but I haven’t really been able to rap my mind around the whole thing. The inner workings still escape me. For editing I use Paint .NET.

Ok,
This weekend has been kind of rough in terms of information. I’ve been playing with a lot of new toys (CakePHP, AutoHotKey, ScriptALicious) so my brain is kind of fried right now. I promise, I’ll report when I sort things out.

Now I’ve never really been a Photoshop guy. I just don’t have an eye for that stuff, even if it may be very basic. What’s my solution? My Cool Button. This service allows you to created, not to bad if I do say so myself, Web 2.0 buttons on the fly.
A lil’ PHP and GD2 sure does go a long way these days.

Lately, I’ve been having some issues with me web host. It’s just been crawling lately with a lot of outages. Also, my apologies for the lack of posts, but along with these host problems, I’ve been having my own PC problems also.
It seems like right now computers on a whole don’t really like me. But I promise, I’ll be with you guys soon.
Stay tuned!

Google has upgraded their beautiful and free Google Analytics for tracking traffic on your website. It’s all flash and beautiful.
There are a lot of new features that I haven’t yet investigated, but what I do know, is that it’s pretty, lol.

Just one thing to note however, I can’t seem to find the place where they have average visits. You know, the average number of visits per day? In all the adding of new stuff tehy must have overlooked it guess.

Web 2.0 has been really spreading like wildfire the past few years, but there area few sites that have really taken total advantage of it and used it to the fullest. Here’s the big list of 10:
- MySpace
- YouTube
- FaceBook
- Wikipedia
- Bebo
- Digg
- Flickr
- Netvibes
- Del.icio.us
- Meebo
The first 4 aren’t a big surprise. These are the big contenders in the game right now. I thought Digg and Flickr would have a higher ranking though. What does surprise me is Meebo in at number 10. It’s great to see a new start up gaining ground so fast.
